North Shore's Triple Crown

After talking about it for days, we finally made it happen - we rode the North Shore's Triple Crown! After riding from UBC, we met at Park Royal at 8:30am. From there we made our way to Mt. Seymour. Everyone says Seymour is the toughest of the three mountains... and they all were right! It took us just over 1 hour to ride 12.5 km's to the top, gaining over 1000m in elevation and breaking a decent sweat.

Making our way down the mountain in just over 13 minutes, hitting 72km's/ hour, Grouse Mountain's parking lot was our next destination. The climb was quick and dirty. Going straight up Capilano road amongst all the cars, we used this leg of the ride as a tempo ride. From Sea to Summit, it took us 22 minutes. A quick stop at Starbucks to re-fuel with a ham and cheese croissant and some gels and we were off once again.

For Cypress, we knew that it would be tough but since we'd both ridden to the peak before, we knew what to expect around each turn. The trek was a long and tedious 15 1/2 km's with switchback after switchback but we finally made it to the top. DONE (or so we thought)... We decided to one-up the Triple Crown and make a final leg down to Horseshoe Bay for a burger and some fish and chips.

Now we were done. 132km's in total for my ride and for our leg of the Triple Crown, it was just under 115km's. I suggest this ride to anyone wanting a serious riding challenge in just one day (or someone with 7 hours on hand to sit on a bike and climb some hills).

Our next challenge will be reversing the order of the ride and adding in an extra hike. Stay tuned for the Triple Crown's Grind! Details to follow next week.

A big thanks needs to go out to my riding partner Ashley... thanks for the great ride buddy. I can't wait until our next one!
